We hosted our wedding reception dinner at 456 Fish and it was such a great experience! Management was very responsive and reliable in communicating with me to ensure everything was flawless. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Norfolk dining. The waitstaff was very attentive as well. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! We are looking forward to dining here again soon!
Well we went to our first Public City Sponsored Concert in at least a year (Oliver Wood band ) as part of the VA Arts Festival in downtown Norfolk VA. So I led our "4 person pod" to 456 Fish restaurant for a pre-show eat & drink. We didn't have a reservation but due to our time available (about an hour) they welcomed us to some amazing cuisine and a variety of libations. I recommend the fried oysters with a sweet-spiced side glaze along with the Caesar salad. The Butterfly shrimp were perfectly cooked and delicious.
We started with our wine, shared some calamari and then had salmon and tuna for our entrees and finished up with a chocolate cheesecake for dessert. We couldn't have been happier when the date was over. We had a great meal, our server Olivia was a blast and the value is hard to beat. Go check it out.
I have never had anything less than a great meal here. It's beautiful inside. The menu changes with the seasons, but it's always consistent in its approach and its southern charm. P.S. they have a great bar too. You're welcome Googlites.
Being on the coast, we were excited to try seafood in Norfolk but were underwhelmed by the mixed experience at 4 5 6 Fish. The atmosphere was great for a business meeting or a romantic evening. My business associates started with cocktails and I ordered a Bloody Mary. This was the best that I have ever tasted - the bartender had the mix of spices just right. The first course of our three course dinner was the shecrab soup which was was fantastic: a creamy soup with about 6oz of crab with a nicely seasoned broth. Unfortunately, the main course (recommended by the waiter) was a huge let down. The salmon came encrusted with onions on top of a potato cake and in a cream sauce. The cream sauce was overly rich and the plate itself was unbalanced. In addition, the salmon was overcooked and the potato cake was not adequately seasoned. To add insult to injury, the dish came out cold. The desert was a creme brulee, which was done well, but you could tell it sat for a while before it was served. Overall the food and service were not a good value for the price (2 star); however, the atmosphere and drinks were great (4 Star). 3 stars overall.
