We ate lunch here on a busy Monday around 1:30 pm. The service was amazing! The food was really good too. It was Martin Luther King day, and it was packed! Alex, Meghan and Kaitlyn were fabulous and courteous! Everyone had their masks on and the tables were being cleaned. Their coffee was really well made! We loved it as a whole! Great job guys!
I have had breakfast several times at Commune but have never been there for lunch. The service was good and they have seating both inside and outside. The food is a mix of breakfast and lunch items, it is a little surprising but there are only a few vegetarian options. The food is very good made with fresh ingredients, the portions are appropriate and the prices reasonable. Parking can be a challenge.
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(definitely recommend) Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(aesthetic) Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (neutral) Great atmosphere and aesthetic at Commune. The cornmeal waffles and chicken were cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. This was the first chicken and waffles that was actually juicy when I cut into it. The biscuit eggs Benedict with the poached eggs were incredibly delicious. I look forward to coming back to try other dishes.
This is my "go to" place for brunch every time I am in Virginia Beach. The food is consistent, hearty and delicious. During my most recent visit, I enjoyed the grits, sausage, collard greens, and egg breakfast bowl; it was the perfect pre-wine festival breakfast. The pancakes are also delicious and the perfect-sized portion. There are a variety of fun brunch cocktails to enjoy as well. I can't wait to go back! My only complaint is that there were lots of flies in the outdoor seating area. I had to swat flies throughout my meal. Maybe a fly catcher device would be helpful?
Service was really great. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Ask questions about the menu if and when you go. There are a few dishes that might be different than the norm. For example... I ordered the shrimp and grits. The restaurant had high rating so I didn't think twice. I always love shrimp and grits. However, this dish was more like a spice grits soup. The taste was not bad, but it wasn't what my mouth was watering for (if you know what I mean.. it didn't satisfy my crave). My friend got the cornmeal pancakes which he LOVED. I will agree that they were tasty, but to give an idea, it tasted a lot like cornbread. I would recommend this restaurant to someone who is interested in trying something new. But don't forget to ask any and all questions before ordering. I hope this helps.
