The fried mushrooms and the Philly cheese tots were magnificent (although the waiter misheard me; I'd actually ordered chili cheese tots. Still, I like Philly steaks just fine, so no complaints). Mom had the tots with crab and artichoke dip. More than enough food comes on your tots that you really don't need anything else. It was nice and quiet at 1 o'clock in the afternoon; I've been there at night before the pandemic and it was a bit loud for my taste, FYI. Great place.
Disappointed, slow service. Waited an hour for my food. When I arrived there were only 6 people seated inside. After ordering, I waited about 40 minutes until i was told that there was large to go order holding up the kitchen. It would be nice to know about this upfront. Food was good, but nothing special. Frozen burger patty, frozen fries. Beer tasted like it may have still had cleaner from the lines in it. Will not go back.
I’ve been here at least twice in the past when I placed pick-up orders. Quality of food was good, decent portions. However, my most recent visit was lack luster. Upon entering the establishment I was promptly greeted by a young lady who seemed to be working the dining area. I immediately noticed an older female worker folding towels and staring, better yet, glaring at me as if she wondered why I even walked into the place. Smh. The cashier at the bar who actually took my order was not courteous at all. Yanked my receipt after I added other items to my existing order, which she didn’t mind to ask if I would like to add anything. Instead, she took the first order, rang it up and quickly handed me the receipt. Her demeanor came off as though she was disgusted. After eating the food everyone in my home had diarrhea. Won’t return. It’s a shame, lack of customer service is killing small and local business owner’s reputations.
So we were so excited to eat here. I've heard nothing but good things. So when we got there, all 14 of us, they seated us promptly and took our drink orders. The waitress came and told us they had burgers or flounder. Half of our party wanted that. I appreciate her telling us ahead if time. So we left. Don't understand how they had no burgers but oh well. Maybe next time.
I have been going to Mason's for years. I have spent more money there (over 1800 dollars) than any other restaurant in Suffolk. Or Hampton Roads for that matter. I always get the Reuben sandwich, always. It's an amazing sandwich that never fails. Well, it seems a business decision was made and the Reuben is off the menu. Disappointed to say the least. I WENT THERE FOR THE REUBEN! For me, there is no longer a reason to go there. The second disappointment of our visit is how badly one of the orders we made was messed up. Everything about the order was wrong. Wrong condiments on the sandwich, wrong side dish, the side dish was corrected and brought to the table 15 minutes before the corrected sandwich was brought to the table. So, three of the people in our party finished their meal, then waited for the fourth person's food to arrive, then be eaten. The place was not too busy for such mistakes. Very disappointed. I will no longer go to Mason's. I will now begin my quest to find a new favorite Reuben sandwich. To end on a high note, I had a grilled cheese sandwich and it was fine.
