Every summer my family and I would come to VA Beach prior to covid and stay at the Hyatt House. We often frequented this restaurant. So, when my sister and I came down this past weekend this was the first establishment I recommended. When we got there we waited 15 minutes and no one asked us if we needed assistance so we went up to the bar staff and they informed us that there are no longer servers and that we could place our order at the bar. After ordering, the manager came out and told the bar staff not to take any more food orders in which they informed him that they had just put our two in. The manager then said that there would be a 30 minute wait. 30 minutes later and all the staff avoiding eye contact - nothing, so my sister asks what's the status of our orders. They tell her it'll be out soon. 20 minutes later and still nothing. 10 more minutes and my sister asks again. The whole time no one is coming to us to assure us that it'll be out soon. So they bring out my sister's order but not mine. Somehow mine never made it to the kitchen. At this point, it's cold and extremely windy and the children are freezing. I tell them that it's fine and just please refund my charge. The manager assures me that the till was never submitted so I wouldn't be charged at all. I check my account on Monday and guess what - I was charged and they added on a tip that I never authorized. This wouldn't be so bad but I have been calling the restaurant for a week straight with no answer. I have even contacted the hotel and they have been unable to get a manager to get on the line with me or call me back. I do not understand how business is conducted this way and it saddens me even more that the Hyatt House is looked at as being connected to this establishment - I am a big fan of the Hyatt House and the service I normally get at any of their locations. Unfortunately, their connection with this establishment is extremely disappointing 😞😔.
BEWARE! Bartenders are very shady at this place. Fast talkers! Kept my card on file to run a tab. Used my card to pay for someone elses tab plus ours. 4 drinks cost us 65 dollars. keep in mind 2 were for my kids. never returning to this trap.
The food was absolutely amazing, service was great. We had the deviled crab cakes the gator tail quesadillas and the fish and chips and everything was perfect wasn't too spicy but wasn't too cool great flavor. If you are on the oceanfront ocean 27 is a stop you have to make..
Went to a picnic table of bar area and wanted to eat dinner. Really thought menu looked good. Greeted very nicely by some folks who told us pick any table or can sit at bar for bartender to order us the food. Once we picked a table and sat, 15 mins, 20 mins went by. Other tables were served. Bar became packed (almost no masks there because they all assumed outdoors was fine and there was zero distancing by patrons, mostly college students)... and no service coming to us. Plus it was starting to get cold. So we had to leave. Never got to taste food or any drinks. We went next door and it was seconds when someone appeared to ask if we wanted drinks. So we stayed next door instead.
This place is absolutely shady! After looking at some of the other reviews, I was not surprised to see that others also had a sketchy experience. My boyfriend and I went out to Oceans 27 a month ago and only ordered drinks from the bar. When it came time to closing out, they told him they couldn’t find our tab and that they would just start up a new tab, re-enter our drinks and close it out. They assured him that if his tab “came back up” they would cancel it. Sure enough, they double charged us… We closed the tab at the bar for $49 and then they fraudulently charged us another $76. We called multiple times but no answer. Lesson learned, if you find yourself at this disgusting place and they tell you that they cannot find your tab, please insist that they find it before leaving. Double check and keep your receipts.
