Host staff was wonderful. I had originally made a reservation for 6 but had to increase twice. They were able to accommodate us even though they were shorthanded and it was a summer Friday. Our server, Bailey, was amazing! She kept up with our large party, even though she seemed to be working the room solo. Oh ya, the food was very good. Great place to celebrate a special birthday!
Incredible Food. Their portions are abundant, and the Battlefield location is the best restaurant in Chesapeake 95% of the time. Usually get Dining Club quality food at steak house prices. Service frequently meets private club attention. As a restaurant, 95% on point is a high bar to achieve. Cons: Disappointed that they no longer allow for two to share an entree. So abundant are their portions, as a senior I cannot eat an entire entree. In all due fairness , why 95%; Once picked up curbside a fried fish entree and the grease had gotten old and the fish just wasn’t good. In my family’s experience, a once in twenty visits gaff. Had I been dining in, their excellent staff would have fixed it immediately, let there be no doubt,
I got a fried platter with everything on it. The taste was not there. I wish they used smaller portion sizes on the oysters and Scallops because the inside didn't seem all the way cooked. The crab cakes were to thick. The flounder also still had the skin on it which pulled off in one bit. Besides the food, the server was really friendly and nice. The restaurant was nice as well. We were sat right behind the hostest station, which they were cleaning and we constantly smelled cleaner. It was a little pricey as well.
We’ve tried to visit this restaurant several times during our week vacation here in the area. We finally made a reservation for a party of 7 on a Thursday night. They seated a party of 5 without a reservation as we arrived. We were told it’d be a few minutes and we watched them seat multiple people that came while we waited. Finally, after 20 minutes of waiting for our reserved table, we left. We went to Baker’s Crust and spent over $200, and we enjoyed it very much. Good service and good food, and they seated us when they said they would. No, we will not be returning to Pirates Cove!
I bought some she crab soup though it tasted good it was absolutely full of shells. They may have well have just tossed in the entire crab into there but this is acceptable to them as they refused to give me fresh soup and or a refund. I was told I could bring the soup back and get more from the next day hoping to be a better batch but the manager says no after I drove a half hour there each way to get the exchange very disappointing at the least. I will never go there again and if you want to enjoy she crab soup this is not the place to go unless you want to spit a shell out of your mouth every bite.
