If you want amazing FRESH sushi. This place is it. Never once have we had a bad experience here. There sushi is to DIE FOR. Looking at the menu it can seem a bit pricy for it is so entirely worth it for the quality of the sushi. The fish is fresh. The rice is just perfect. My go to roll is the fireman because it has an amazing heat to it.
Terrible experience. We decided to do an early dinner and saw there was only one other couple inside so we knew it wasn't busy. The waitress did not seem to care we were there and did everything she could to avoid us. We asked if we could include a side order of noodles and got the response "I don't know." After our initial order she never came back until the end to hand back the card that we gave to the other waiter, who brought our food, our drinks and the utensils she didn't bring. The food arrived 5 minutes before we received our utensils. No fault to the waiter that helped us since we weren't his customers to begin with and didn't know. During that time, the waitress was eating her food and on her phone. It was so bad I had to hand my card to him to close out the tab knowing we wouldn't get service again. Right before we left we noticed she seemed very knowledgeable to another family that was getting ready to order. The service was so bad that we almost left before taking a bite of food. The food overall wasn't bad but the service ruined everything for us. Wouldn't recommend dining if same wait staff is working.
If you want to stay close to the oceanfront, this is a good option for sushi. The service can be slow so do not pick this bistro if you are in a hurry. Take a look at their menu first. Compared to some other sushi bars in the area, they do not have as many options- but their sushi is great quality! Everything was super fresh and tasty! If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely visit again!
Soya Sushi Bar & Bistro is a fantastic sushi restaurant in Virginia Beach, downtown and near the beach. We came to Virginia Beach from Richmond often as the kids were growing up. Our favorite sushi place at home was also called Soya, unfortunately now closed. When we first came to Virginia Beach many years ago, we were hoping this restaurant would be as good. It is absolutely a GREAT restaurant. Last night, I had my usual Chirachi and my spouse had the California Crunch Roll. We shared a seaweed salad, hot sake, and a fried ice cream for desert. Everything was excellent.
Great sushi selections and great for your buck. Fast and efficient service. Highly recommended.
